Venus and the Beehive dance.

The Beehive cluster and Venus dance together in a few days time.

Keep a look out towards the west on the evening of the 13th and 14th.

Around about 10:30 - 10:45 BST

Get out the binoculars, deck chair, tea and cake *

It should make for an interesting astro event.

* Tea and cake are optional, but very much appreciated if the weather misbehaves!

  1. Well that was a wash out, literally a light pollution wash out.
Never mind, better luck next time.

I didn't detect the Beehive cluster in either my 6x30s or 12x40 binos.

The streetlights in our village undoubtedly hindered viewing.

Plus the brightness of the late June evening didn't help.

The Bees are an easy sight in the winter sky, but most elusive in the summer night sky.

Last Tuesday evening they were probably out gathering pollen.
