AI with Sunflowers
Being a bit of a Luddite I often steer well clear of computer hardware and software.
No GOTO telescope alignments for me; planispheres and setting circles everytime.
Though I sometimes peek at what's available; for example:
The latest digital intrigue for me is to possibly clean up some of my old astronomy pictures using AI.
First of all Venus.
Here's an image I took via the projection method of the Venus Transit from June 4th 2004:
After letting Gemini AI clean it up, here is the finished result:

The image created by AI could not have been improved on by me, even if I had a month of Sundays to try it!
Gemini AI took all of five seconds to produce that image you see above.
Is it cheating to use AI in this manner?
I don't think so, for if that were true I would have been cheating using the 35mm SLR camera that took the initial photo back in 2004!
Though the digitised AI image does look a bit polished to my eye.
With that in mind, here are a couple more of my astro images cleaned up with the help of AI:

Again processed and delivered in under five seconds!
Notice how AI deleted the clouds in the original photo, and added a vast sweeping starfield in its place, that kind of artistic licence doesn't sit well with this astronomer!
Lastly, one of my sunspot images.
With AI in the mix the image below was produced.
I did try out a few more solar photos, but AI was a bit to enthusiastic with it penumbral detail - It was apt to make the final sunspot groupings look a bit like Van Gogh's sunflowers!
